The very first level of your first playthrough is a tutorial. Later we will discuss how to gain your other playthrough specific achievements. There are a few special missions and cutscenes with the tutorial enabled that you may not want to miss, as well as a tutorial-related achievement.įor the first playthrough this guide will assume you are playing on Commander difficulty tutorial without DLC expansions or the war of the Chosen. It also removes the possibility to earn The Untouchables achievement. Keep this in mind when you are ready for a greater challenge. Selecting the tutorial removes the Ironman option that would have popped up after difficulty. The guide assumes these are not being actively played during your playthroughs. If you do not have the DLC then this is not an issue. Selecting to include the hunter story arc means they will not appear unless and until you initiate the related story mission. If you do not select this, then powerful enemies will just appear in the games when you least want them. The way to avoid these challenges is surprisingly to select playing that story campaign. The hunters DLC adds a great deal of challenge to the early game. The next menu will allow you to select DLC content. Certain NPC comments will not make sense if you don't see these cutscenes. This causes two unique story missions and additional cutscenes at the beginning of the game. For the first time player, check the box with the tutorial selected. Veteran is a good challenge, but many achievements require Commander difficulty. There are four difficulties, Rookie, Veteran, Commander and Legend.
